What the Wha?: Hydrators vs Moisturizers

Skin care being skin care, there are a bazillion different products out in the market and some seem so similar, yet you wonder are they the same? Are the interchangeable?

Hydrators and moisturizers are similar products. They both have to do with moisture in our skin. And seeing as it is getting colder, I thought, why not? Don’t ever you wonder why the crap we use them?

Healing from the Inside: Vitamin Supplements

From topical creams to expensive oral acne treatments, not many acne treatments focus on healing from the inside. Sometimes, the reason you may be breaking out is because of a lack of proper essential vitamins that help aid in keeping your skin healthy.

Combination skin: The In-between skin

I have been getting questions for products that are for combination skin. Combination skin folks have usually an oily t-zone and dry patches on the cheeks. I have to say that combo skin is the most difficult skin type to find products that can moisturize the dry parts, but not over the top that it will cause your oily areas to be…oiler. No pictures this time. =(

Diet and Acne: Eating Towards a Healthier You

We’ve all been led to believe that eating certain foods (even once) will cause a plethora of fresh acne pimples. I’ve already previously said that it is a mostly false myth. Having a bad meal once in a while will not all of a sudden cause you to break out.

Makeup for Acne

I know, I know, this is supposed to be my August update, but seeing as school is starting, I want to do a little post on makeup and acne.

Firstly, Stay away from oil-based foundations. Look for oil-free or water based foundations. The reason being that oil based foundations are more likely to clog your pores compared to water based. Oils (lipids and such) are bigger molecules and are the perfect size to plug up your pore. Water molecules are much smaller and won’t block the pores. Plus if you’re oily (like me), it will make you look…not so great. Oil based foundations are mostly used for those with just dry skin (no acne involved).

The Whole is More than the Sum of its Parts

In this post, I have decided to kind of bring everything together. No, I am not going to rewrite all of my posts…I’m just going to link every post I had about the science of acne in order from acne to post acne as well as some extra stuff on spf, myths, etc. that I posted a couple of months ago. This is for anyone new that hasn’t read any of them and want to know what the crap is going on with their faces!

Epi-who? Derma-what?

I’ve just realized that I’ve been making posts on skin without really explaining how our skin works. So this post will be an introduction to skin and exactly how a pimple looks from the inside.
